Shri Raman Krishnan

 

Shri Raman Krishnan has assumed charge as the new General Manager of Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Raebareli on 09 April, 2026. A senior officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), belonging to the 1990 batch, Shri Krishnan brings with him over three decades of rich and diverse experience in Indian Railways.
Prior to this assignment, he was serving as Chief Administrative Officer at Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai. Over the course of his distinguished career, Shri Krishnan has held several key positions across Indian Railways, showcasing his expertise and leadership in various domains of mechanical engineering and railway operations.
His notable assignments include serving as Chief Mechanical Engineer and Chief Rolling Stock Engineer in South Western Railway, Chief Workshop Engineer at Rail Wheel Factory, and Senior Professor at the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE), Jamalpur. He has also worked as Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer in Southern Railway and Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, as well as Workshop Manager and Assistant Divisional Mechanical Engineer in Southern Railway.
Shri Krishnan has further enhanced his professional capabilities through advanced management training in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has also completed the Management Development Programme at the National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR), Vadodara.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Shri Krishnan has been honoured with the General Manager’s Award twice. He received the award for his significant role in the export of coaches to Vietnam National Railways during his tenure at RCF Kapurthala in 2001, and for his contributions to the procurement of high horsepower (HHP) locomotive spares in South Western Railway. Additionally, he has been awarded the Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer’s Award twice for his notable achievements.
Shri Raman Krishnan possesses deep expertise in diesel traction, coach manufacturing, workshop management, and rolling stock technology. His vast experience and technical acumen are expected to further strengthen the functioning of the Modern Coach Factory.
